Places to Watch is a system that leverages satellite data to pinpoint areas with potentially troubling recent deforestation. It identifies these areas by analyzing the concentration of deforestation alerts alongside the existence of intact or protected forests. The selected areas are then reviewed, analyzed, and shared with the public for awareness and action. There are three separate alert filtering approaches which result in the three PTW types in the legend: Mongabay reporting, Oil Palm, and Soy.
